Kyetume FC defender Jonathan ‘Dante’ Mugabi has credited team determination and players’ experience for their historical win against SC Villa.
Dante was the man of the match as Kyetume FC beat SC Villa in their first time of asking in the league.
Cephas ‘Tarzan’ Kambugu scored the only goal of the game, tapping in from Patrick Ochan’s lofty cross.
“People are despising Kyetume thinking it’s a team everyone has to beat, but for us it’s just a new team but not new players,” said Dante in an exclusive interview with The-SportsNation.com.
“We are an experienced group of players with a good coach and we are ready to beat on anyone. We came prepared for Villa. We were determined and organised.
“We have few players who are not new to this level though some like the goalscorer Cephas Kambugu were playing their first game in the league.”
Dante, who joined Kyetume FC after being released by URA FC, was captain of SC Villa in 2015. He has also played for for Sofapaka and Vihiga United in the Kenyan Premier League.

“I was once at SC Villa so I knew something little about them. We are working hard as a team and we expect to be in the top eight teams.”
The Slaughters had veterans like Robert Ssentongo, Patrick Ochan, Vincent Kayizzi and Isaac Kirabira among others not to mention Julius Ntambi, Benon Tahomera, Joel Mutakubwa and Samson Mutyaba.
Kyetume will be playing away from home against Maroons on Tuesday 3rd September in their next league game.
