Uganda Premier League record winners SC Villa have appointed Asuman Alishe Kihogo as their new captain, it’s official.
His first task with the armband will officially begin when SC Villa face Kyetume in the league opener on Thursday at Namboole.
Alishe will be assisted by Ambrose Kirya. However, Coach Edward Kaziba is yet to name the third choice.
Speaking to the-SportsNation.com, Kaziba noted that he first talked to all the players and made an assessment before arriving to this a tough decision.
“Alishe is a good player who can organise his teammates, he has got good leadership skills and he is disciplined above all,” Kaziba commented on Alishe.
Alishe, a towering centre back, joined SC Villa from Mbarara City FC last season in January. This is his second spell at the record winners after he played from 2009 to 2011.
He has also played for Lweza FC, Victoria University, Biharwe FC, Vipers, BUL FC and Sweden’s IFK Amal.
He joins a long list of SC Villa captains that include Mike Sserumaga, Bernard Muwanga, Taddeo Lwanga, Jonathan Mugabi, Isaac Kirabira, Tony Ndolo, Edgar Watson, Hakim Magumba, Paul Hasule among others.
