Super Eight: Mbarara Coach Ssenyondo Convinced With Performance Against Onduparaka

Mbarara City FC coach Brian Ssenyondo is convinced with his side’s display against Onduparaka in the FUFA Pilsner Super Eight.

The Ankole Lions managed to clinch third spot after beating Onduparaka FC 2-0 in a classification game played at Wakissha Resource centre’s Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.

Goals from Jasper Ahebwa and Paul Mucureezi gave Ssenyondo’s team a deserved victory.

“I am happy with my team’s performance,” noted coach Ssenyondo after the victory on Tuesday. “We wanted to win the Pilsner Super Eight trophy but we just had to settle for third place.”

“We believed in the boys and they also believed in themselves which yielded results at the end today.

“My side played according to plan and we won the tie against a good opponent with a good tactican in Livingston Mbabazi.”

In the Super Eight campaign, Mbarara City beat URA FC 2-0 at Kakyeka Stadium in the quarters but lost to Vipers in shootouts at the semifinals played at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

Finalists Vipers and KCCA FC will face off on Sunday at a stadium yet to be communicated.

When asked to comment about his preparations for the new season, Ssenyondo who replaced Mbabazi as the head coach, expressed his readiness.

“We are well prepared and this Super Eight tourney has given us needed test and we are now good to go for the new season.”

Mbarara city FC will kick start their new season against Proline FC at home in Luzira prisons grounds on August 31.
