Overwhelming KCCA Men managed to defeat Ndejje University Angels and take a giant step towards the much anticipated playoffs.

KCCA won 73-65 in a Tusker Lite Sponsored NBL game played at the Indoor Arena in Lugogo, Kampala.

Trailing 49-52 going into the last quarter, KCCA Men got out of their blocks and scored 24 points against Ndejje’s 13 to seal a laboured comeback.

Richard Ongom put up a one man show with 27 points, shooting 10 of 16 from the field. He was the only player for KCCA to score in double figures.

Victor Aleny and Stephen ‘Escodata’ added eight points, Francis Mbuyi grabbed nine rebounds while Geoffrey Omondi added five assists in a winning effort.

Innocent Ochera and Samuel Ajack drained 20 and 14 rebounds, Derrick Katumba managed 11 rebounds for Ndejje.

KCCA Men All But Seal Playoffs Spot

Seven teams – UCU, Betway Power, City Oilers, JKL Dolphins, Warriors, KIU Titans and Ndejje have already sealed their place in the playoffs.

One spot is still up for grabs to complete a quarter finals puzzle.

Two teams can realistically take that one remaining spot – KCCA Men and Sharing Youth, but the former is now in a commanding position.

KCCA Men (7-13) have now won seven from 20 games while Sharing Youth (6-15) have won six from 21.

The good news for Sharing Youth is that they will need to beat their last remaining game and hope that KCCA Men lose their remaining two, to finish in eighth.

But the bad news is that Sharing Youth’s last game is against the unforgiving six time NBL champions City Oilers.

KCCA men will seal their place in eighth even though they fail to win both their remaining games – City Oilers and Warriors if Sharing fail to shock Oilers.

It looks like job done for KCCA who lost all their first four games of the season.

KCCA’s seven wins have come against Our Saviour (2), Kampala University (2), Falcons (2) and Ndejje.
