All looks set for the 2019 Uganda Golf Open.
The annual event, which will last for 15 days, will tee off on August 27 at Serena Hotel Kigo, at the most beautiful golf course in the region – Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort.
Nile Breweries Limited under their brand Castle Lite, are some of the sponsors for the big event.

The tourney has been divided into categories – the Junior Open, Ladies Open, Amateur Open and Professionals.
“Initially, many thought that it will be a joke. We launched this on March 31 and we have been touring other clubs in the region, now everything is set for the big one,” noted Uganda Golf Union President Innocent Kihika.
“We have been promoting golf for the whole of Uganda, and many golfers from various countries have already confirmed participation.
“It is a good turn up for both professionals and amateurs and this shows how popular the level we are at.”
There are going to be 90 professionals with 16 coming from Uganda. Other golfers in professional category will come from countries like Botswana, Ghana, Malawi, Senegal, Seychelles, Zambia, Zimbabwe among others.
Uganda, just like Kenya, Sweden, USA, Ethiopia will also have players in the amateur event.
There has been country tours in Mbale, Mbarara, Tooro, Entebbe among others ahead of the event.
The defending champions are Tanzania Neema Olomi who won in the Ladies category, Uganda’s Ronald Otile (Amateurs) while Kenyan Dismas Ndiza won in Professionals category.
