UCU Canons successfully skipped Warriors’ hurdle in the National Basketball League.
The Canons won 79-68 in an entertaining game played at the Indoor Arena in Lugogo.
The result means that UCU have beaten Warriors twice in the regular season as Nicholas Natuhereza’s team had won the first round game 62-60 in the first round on May 25 at YMCA.

Most importantly, Canons have improved their record to 18-3 and will seal top spot with a win against Kampala University on August 24 in their last fixture before post season.
The University side who had lost to City Oilers on Wednesday, made their intent known from the start when they won the first quarter 20-16 on their way to an important win despite missing star player David ‘Dikong’ Deng.
The Canons shot 30-of-70 from the field, were, out rebounded Warriors 52-38 and fetched 37 points to Warriors’ 17 off the bench.

Titus Lual weighed in with a double double of 15 points and 12 rebounds, Martin Tyron had 13 while Isaiah Mabeny Ater contributed 11 points. Fayed Baale had 9 points and 4 assists for the Canons.
Chris Omanye scored a game high 20 points while Michael Buzangu was the other Warriors’ player to score in double figures with 18.
Warriors has now lost four games and still has KIU Titans, JKL Dolphins, KCCA men and Falcons.
