Golola Lauds Players’ Performance Against Mbarara

Vipers SC head coach Edward Golola says that he is convinced with his team’s performance after they knocked out Mbarara City FC in the Pilsner Super Eight.

Vipers needed penalties to eliminate Mbarara City FC after a one all draw in a close game played at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.

“I thank my players for winning this game, they played under instructions and I am happy with the performance exhibited,” Golola told Journalists in a press conference.

“They have played with character on the pitch, I am also happy with the man of the match Karim Watambala a player we have groomed.”

He also revealed that his new signings Shaban Muhammed and Toha Rashid will play a part in the finals. It should be noted that Vipers who also beat Proline FC in the quarters, will play the winner between KCCA and Onduparaka in the finals.

“Shaban has not trained with the team and this means we can’t field him, Toha is on the injury list but we expect him soon.”

Substitute Tito Okello leveled matters just a minute after Brian Ahebwa had put Mbarara City FC in the lead.

The Venoms would have won the game in normal time but Mbarara’s goalkeeper Mohammed Sekeba put up a strong performance to deny the Venoms.

However, in the shootouts, Vipers’ Fabien Mutombora became the main actor after saving Ronald Otti’s penalty before stepping up to score the winner and send the home fans into frenzy celebrations.
