Our Saviour picked their first league win of the 2019 season after beating Sharing Youth in a close affair played at YMCA court.
The victory comes on the back of 18 straight defeats since the Tusker Lite Sponsored league started in May.
A combination of well taken shots and good defense played a part for the relegation bound Our Saviour who led 38-30 at the long break.
Despite late efforts in the last two quarters, Sharing Youth failed to topple the Kikoni based side.
Coach Raymond Muhumuza showed his discontent to poor officiating when he stormed the scorer’s table after the final buzzer before he was escorted away by official Mande Baker Kyambadde.
Point guard Davis Assimwe lifted the team with 23 points. Stephen Wokorach and Elton Donald added 16 and 12 points respectively. Leonardo Gilabi and Maker Mayen had 12 and 10 rebounds in that order.
Caesar Kizito scored a game high 28 points in a losing effort. David Donat and Emmanuel Okumu added 11 and 10 points respectively for the Nsambya based team.
Our Saviour shot 37% from the field, 68% on the line and kept the momentum up till the end despite playing with only two bench players.
Our Saviour still have three games to go, and will have to beat Kampala University, KIU Titans and Ndejje University Angels if there is any slim chances of beating relegation.
