City Oilers handed Betway Power their seventh loss of the ongoing Tusker Lite sponsored National Basketball league.
Oilers topped the rivalry 84-74, in a game played at Indoor Arena in Lugogo, Kampala.
The loss, third for Power in their last four games, is the last of rough events that have happened to the club of recent.
This, comes just hours after FUBA handed tough bans and fines to their two players Geoffrey Soro and Philip Ameny following incidents in their clash with Warriors last Friday.
Power Succumbs To Oilers Superiority
Oilers set the tone with a 22-17 first half lead but Power proved that they will not be a rollover when they snatched the second quarter 24-22 as the first half ended 43-41 in Oilers’ favour.
The Oilers, who continues to miss head coach Mandy Juruni, flipped the switch to take the third quarter 25-14 and Power failed to stage a formidable comeback in the last quarter to lose a 10 point game.
The result sees Oilers complete a double against the five time winners as they had won the reverse fixture 69-66 in the league opener.
Landry Ndikumana dropped 21 points, Ivan Muhwezi and Tony Drilleba drilled in 15 and 13 points respectively for Oilers who shot 46% from the field.
David Opolot managed 15 points for Power. Syrus Kiviiri added 13 while Isaac Afidra (11) scored in double figures in a losing effort.
Basketball returns on Saturday – Friday games have been postponed. Oilers will face Kampala University on August 3rd before Power play Falcons a day later.
Elsewhere, Martha Soigi (14) Joy Chemutai (13) and Judith Ayo Nansobya (11) scored in double figures as KCCA Leopards eased past MUK Sparks.
