KCCA Leopards continued with their winning streak after a routine 74-66 victory over Nkumba Lady Marines in a league game played at YMCA.
Trailing 28-35 at halftime, the Leopards managed to stage a comeback to win 26-18 and 20-23 in the third and last quarter respectively, to seal a laboured victory.
Nkumba dominated the initial stages thanks to efforts from the usual suspects – Brenda Ekone, Fina Busingye, Susan Becca Aanyau and Catherine Haruri – But failed to hold on when KCCA turned on the heat.

Martha Soigi led the blitz, as she delivered diligently from both ends of the court as KCCA made an escape that was highly built on their 11-0 scoring run down the stretch.
Judith Ayo Nansobya brought 19, Soigi added 16 while Joy Cheche Chemutai contributed 13 off the bench to win on a day they missed head coach Ali Mavita. Leticia Awor grabbed rebounds 13 times while Sylvia Nakazibwe and Cynthia Irakunda laid 6 and 4 assists in that order.
Ekone scored 25 points and 10 rebounds, Busingye weighed in with 16, Haruri had 13 points while Aanyu managed 13 rebounds.

Nkumba, as usual, was hard done by their bench that scored 2 points combined, compared to KCCA’s which reached 34. Also, Nkumba made only 3 of 19 from downtown.
KCCA have now won all their five second round games and are expected to win again when they face struggling MUK Sparks on Wednesday. They have won 12 games from 14 attempts.
Nkumba on the hand, have nine wins and six losses. They came into the game on the back of a 58-47 win over A1 Challenge which they kept scoreless till midway in the second quarter.
