The Tusker Lite sponsored National Basketball League will continue this Friday with two mouthwatering clashes at YMCA court, Wandegeya.
The men’s affair between Warriors and Betway Power headlines what promises to be a wonderful night of basketball.
On the day, FUBA will also reward the best players and coaches for the concluded months of May and June.
Power and Warriors are one of the league’s traditional giants, however, both sides have had nothing to smile about in the recent past since the invasion of the money bags City Oilers.
After falling to JKL Dolphins in their last engagement at Lugogo, Power will be seeking to bounce back and will capitalise on a ‘home court’ advantage to stun Warriors.
“Despite power losing on Wednesday, warriors Vs power has always been an old time rivalry so the form and quality doesn’t matter when it comes to this matchup. It’s about bragging rights and pride of the rivalry,” noted Warriors coach Ronnie Mutebi.
On his general thoughts about the game, Mutebi revealed:
“Power has always been a running team (they thrive so much on transition basketball). They are very aggressive defensively and they have good size inside the paint so we plan on slowing them down and forcing them to move the ball.
“We also plan on helping each other defensively to reduce our foul trouble situations. They have a larger bench than us but we are ready to give our best.”
The reverse fixture in the first round, saw Warriors take the day with a 92-62 deserved win and the Kyambogo based team will come more motivated to seal a double.
“We have played them before and their bigs gave us a hard time plus (Joseph) Ikong, Syrus Kiviri and (Isaac) Afidra who have been consistent this second round. On the other hand, my players are all hungry for victory, we only have one major injury concern on Carmelo (Amisi Saidi) who got a knock the last game.”
Warriors have won all their four second round games, beating up on Ndejje, Our Saviour, KIU Titans and Sharing Youth.
In general, they have won 13 of their 15 games so far, with their two losses coming against JKL Dolphins and UCU Canons.
Power on the other hand, have won 10 of 15 games this season.
