Roke 7s: Pirates Captain Magomu Confident Going Into Last Three Circuits

Stanbic Black Pirates Captain Ivan Magomu says that his side is confident enough to push all the way in the next three remaining circuits.

Magomu aided his team retain the Coronation 7s held at Legends where they beat rivals Kobs in the Roke Telkom Rugby 7s league.

The victory helped second placed Pirates cut the gap to three points from leaders Betway Kobs.

“We kept them in their half and didn’t let them to play, their strength is to let them play but this time we worked on defence and pressed them,” Magomu said after the 38-05 final victory. “We forced them to make mistakes and punished them.”

“We shall pick up with the momentum coming into other circuits as this gives us morale and boost and the boys are confident enough to push all the way to win other circuits.

“The win is big, many thought that it was a routine.”

On Saturday, Kobs missed their integral players – Pius Ogena and Adrian kasiito. When Magomu asked on whether Kobs made it easy for them, he noted;

“It doesn’t matter, kobs is a team, we dont play individuals. They also beat us when we had some injuries. Kisiga is coming back while Wanyama is still nursing an injury.”

Pirates had beaten Rams (39-05) and Jinja Hippos (14-07) at the quarter and semifinals respectively to storm the finals.
