Uganda’s senior netball team, the She Cranes lost 55-44 to Malawia’s Queens in 5th/8th placement game at the ongoing 2019 Netball World Cup in M&S Arena in Liverpool on Friday evening.
The She Cranes were almost evenly matched in the first quarter of the game, but a lethargic three last quarters display proved costly in the end.

“It wasn’t our day, it wasn’t our day,” Nelson Bogere, assistant coach Uganda repeated. “We want to congratulate Malawi because they have over played us, they took our centre and our shooting wasn’t all the best.”
The defeat sends the She Cranes to 7th/8th play off where they will play Zimbabwe who also lost to Jamaica 47-77 early in the day.
If Uganda beat Zimbabwe on Sunday, it will finish 7th out of 16 nations that took part in ongoing 15th edition if the World event.

If it comes to pass, this will be the best positon ever for Uganda after finishing 8th in Sydney 2015 and 13th in 1979 Trinidad & Tobago.
