Minnows Madagascar continued to write their Cinderella football story with another milestone.
The fourth-largest island in the world shocked DR Congo, eliminating the two time champions in shootouts to storm the Africa Cup of nations on first attempt.
The side, managed by Frenchman Nicholas Dupuis had already over achieved by their standards when they qualified to play at the continent, five years after being ranked as number 190th by FIFA.
At the ongoing tourney, Madagascar punched above weight to reach knockout after drawing with Guinea and recording wins over Burundi and Nigeria.

Against DRC, they made their intentions known when Ibrahim Amada scored their opener. Cedric Bakambu levelled for DRC but Faneva Andriatsima restored the advantage before Chancel Mbemba’s late equaliser to force extra time.
The score remained unchanged after extra time to prompt penalties where Madagascar won 4-2, thanks to Yannick Bolasie’s miss.
