Morocco will seek to make light work of Benin as the two sides meet at the Africa cup of nations round of 16 tonight at the Al Salam Stadium, Cairo.

Morocco are the outright favourites coming into this tie after topping Group D – The Atlas lions edged Namibia, South Africa and Ivory Coast 1-0.

Herve Renard will need side to stay focussed and double their efforts especially Leganes forward Youssef En-Nesyri and Ajax Star Hakim Ziyech.

Morocco are title hungry with their only AFCON title coming way back in 1976. They lost in 2014 finals 2-1 against Tunisia in Rades.

Benin on the other hand, have so far lived beyond their expectations but they will seek to defy odds in a bid to extend their stay.

Benin have not lost a game but are yet to lose at this year’s tourney – They drew 2-2 with four time champions Ghana before drawing goalless against Guinea Bissau and defending Champions Cameroon.

With Morocco struggling to find the back of the net, Benin who are hard to break like any other West African country, will fancy a chance to punch above weight.

The Squirrels came as third best from Group F to qualify to the knockout and this will be their first time at the knockout – They have played at AFCON four times.

The side will rely mostly on former Sunderland midfielder Stephane Sessegnon and Huddersfield Striker Steve Mounie. Turkish based striker Mickael Pote will be another one to watch out for.

Morocco beat Benin 6-1 and 4-0 in 2014 and 2004 respectively, in their previous meetings. Can history repeat itself?
