Team Uganda has been flagged off to the 2019 World University games in Naples, Italy that starts on July 3 to 14, 2019.
In the World university games, Uganda holds a good reputation – In the last competition in 2017 Taipei, China, Uganda was 35 out of 63 countries three 3 medals (bronze, silver & gold).
On Friday morning, 35 athletes from various Universities in Uganda have been flagged off for the biannual summer event.
Flagging off the team, Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe gave the flag to the team captain Nalukwago judith at the association of Uganda University Sports AUUS in mengo.

He emphasized team work for better results:
“I have confidence that the Uganda team is going to represent our country well they have been winning in african competitions in various sports disciplines they have been prepared by experts. Am sure when they are competing in napoli uganda will be well represented “
The various sports disciplines in which Uganda is having athletes include tennis, track and field athletics and swimming.
The 35 athletes are from Makerere University, Kyambogo, Ndejje University, Uganda Christian University and Bugema university
Dorcus Ajok
The 24 year old who won uganda a gold medal in the 1500 meters in University games in 2015 is again poised to do great in her athletics game.
Ajok has represented the country in various big stages including the 2018 commonwealth games, African senior championships last year , and the just concluded world cross country championships in Denmark .
Other runners that are medal hopeful for the country include leni shida
Team Uganda captain Nalukwago judith who is in her 4th year at Makerere University in dental surgery and in sports she does lawn tennis says ” our training has been very proper in that we have been feed well by expert nutritionists and for that the country should only wait for more medal than the last competition as the team has senior players like me because i was there in the last competition “
The team is to leave the country on Sunday night in are 6 hour flight were ms Florence nakamya is the head of delegation
