Kenya Morans are on the brink of reaching the inaugural AFROCAN after a convincing but shocking victory against favourites Egypt at the ongoing FIBA Africa Zone V Championship.
Kenya won 97-79 in a pulsating affair played at the Indoor Arena in Lugogo, Kampala.
Egypt led 21-19 after the first quarter but Cliff Owour’s charges fought back to win the second quarter 27-14 and take a 11 point lead at halftime.
Kenya who received support from a huge Uganda crowd, defended well and executed accordingly at offense. They won the third quarter 30-23 before holding on to win an 18 point game.

Denmark based Tyler Ongwae Okari led the way with a game high 29 points and added 11 rebounds. Erich Reuben and Griffin Ligare managed 21 and 19 points respectively for the Morans.
Ronald Gundo was another good performer, shot 6-6 from the field to tally 12 points for Kenya.
Centre Moustafa Mohamed Elmekawi contributed 23 points and 11 rebounds while Ahmed Azab added 15 points in a losing effort.
Kenya shot 33/67 from the field and were 80% from the line, out rebounded Egypt 57-49 in a powerful performance.
