Uganda Cranes is the only East African team destined to get out of this Africa Cup of Nations group stages.

Cranes lead group A after beating DR Congo. Kenya and Tanzania lost their openers on Sunday, while Burundi had lost to Nigeria on Saturday.

Baghdad Bounedjah scored from the penalty spot after 34 minutes before Riyad Mahrez doubled the advantage with a deflected shot as Algeria downed Kenya.

Tanzania fell 2-0 to Senegal in the other Group C match – Inter Milan forward Keita Balde and Krepin Diatta scored the goals.

In the first game on Sunday, Morocco needed a late own goal from Litamunua Keimuna to overcome minnows Namibia in group D match.
