Geoffrey Soro led with a game high 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Betway Power dominated UCU Canons in the NBL second round opener at Indoor Arena in Lugogo.
Soro, in his second season at the club since joining from KIU Titans, put up a strong performance, with 29 minutes on court and shot 13 for 19 from the field.
Three other Power players scored in double figures – Syrus Kiviiri had 11 points while Agutu Samuel and Libe Makala came off the bench to grab 12 and 16 points.
Power were impressive on the field as they passed the ball well, shot 45% from the field, made 12 steals and registered less turnovers – 13 to UCU’s 20 to be specific.
UCU Canons looked a shadow of themselves, fetched less points off the bench and had only two players in double points. Isaiah Mabeny Ater had a team high 16 points while Chuma Fadhil contributed 10 points.
The duo lacked commended support with starters Joas Maheta (3 points) and Titus Lual (2 points) firing blanks on the day UCU will seek to forget easily after their Women team lost to JKL in the first game.
It was a revenge well planned for the five time champions as the side had lost to UCU Canons 68-71 on May 8. Since then, Power had gone on to win five games in a row before Friday’s showdown.
They beat up on Sharing Youth, KCCA Men, Falcons, Kampala University and Ndejje Angels.
UCU Canons will seek to return to winning ways when they face JKL Dolphins on Wednesday, June 12 while the Betway sponsored Power has Kampala University next Saturday.
