Uganda beat Rwanda 3-1 to finish the All Africa Games qualifiers on at least a positive note after losing their opening two matches at the CAVB Africa Zone five Championship.

Nason Bwesigye’s side, captioned by George Aporu squeezed their way past a resolute Rwanda team in highly contested game at Kasarani complex.

Uganda finish second with four points, below leaders Egypt who qualified for the All Africa Games set in Morocco.

Uganda was competing for the only slot for the African games, against Kenya, Egypt and Rwanda on a three day tournament.

“Every time, Rwanda has been beating us by a whisker but we have always been bridging the gap,” noted head coach Bwesigye as quoted by Daily Nation. “Today, we have shown that our time has come, 15 years is such a long time.”

It should be noted that this is the first time Uganda beats Rwanda in the last 15 years.

Egypt earned their ticket to Morocco in the 2019 African Games after beating Kenya 3-1 in the last game to compete a sweep.
