Rita Imanishimwe has described JKL Lady Dolphins teammate Jane Asinde as beast and fun in her farewell tribute to the Power forward.
Asinde will on Wednesday leave for USA to join Grayson College in Denison, Texas for a two year Business Administration, a chance that comes with an opportunity to play with Dallas Wings.
“On court she’s been a beast, team player, always open to corrections and hardworking,” Imani said of Asinde, when approached by this Website.
“Off court, she’s a bit quiet yet fun to hang around. She’s that teammate that keeps checking in on friends.”
Imanishimwe said that she first played with Asinde in 3X3, in a World Cup tournament in China.
Asinde who was part of JKL team that won the UCU Invitational tourney, leaves after playing nine league games where she proved to be a vital figure for the Dolphins.
She totalled 139 points, averaging 15 per game, 76 rebounds, 11 steals and 16 assists in the league this season.
Speaking about Asinde’s gap and how they plan to fill the void, Imanishimwe explained:
“It’s a huge gap, one that’s gonna take time to cover up. But the team has bonded enough to show up and play some good and competitive basketball.
“We definitely have to work hard. But fortunately we are still strong in the paint. Having hope Akello and Namuwaya Muhaimina is strength enough for us to compete.”
Asinde joined JKL this year from Magic Stormers after finishing her high school with Buddo SS.
