*Kampala University 60-55 Our Saviour
JKL Lady Dolphins, even without Jamila ‘Zama’ Nansikombi, managed to pile more misery on a sorry MUK Sparks team to finish the first round of the regular season unbeaten.
The Lady Dolphins were a class apart to say the least as their bench turned into beast mode to spur the defending champions to 109-28 victory.
Jane Asinde came off the bench to garner a game high 19 points. Brenda Nakitende (11), Hope Gimono (11), Muhayi Namuwaya (10) and Evelyn Nakiyingi (11) all reached double figures from the bench to combine for a season high 62 points.
Angella Namirimu who had 18 minutes and shot 0-3, was the only JKL player off the bench not to score a single point.
Starters Peace Nakirijja and Flavia Oketcho had 12 points each for JKL.
The loss, leaves MUK Sparks without a win and will face record winners UCU Lady Canons on June 3 before ending their first round games.
JKL has now passed the 100 mark for the third time in a row after previously obliterating UMU Ravens and YMCA Lady Hamsters.
MUK Sparks who did not score in double figures in any of the four quarters, shot 12-36 from the field and was out rebounded 24-38.
Ruth Nangiro scored 9 points while Rose Basemera had six points, three rebounds and four assists.
In the men’s game:
Ahmed Kassa led the way with 19 points as Kampala University beat winless Our Saviour who managed just three points in the third frame. This was KU’s second loss as they had beaten up on Sharing Youth.
