UPL: Mutebi, Kaddu Named Best Of April/May

KCCA duo, Coach Mike Hillary Mutebi and Striker Patrick Henry Kaddu, have been named as the best performers for the concluded months of April and May combined.

This is the second monthly gong for Coach Mutebi who won one in December, and the first for Kaddu. The duo helped KCCA clinch their 13th league title with 66 points.

Mike Mutebi beat Tooro United coach Wasswa Bbosa to the gong after guiding KCCA to four wins out of the six games played in April and May.

In that crucial period, which was the business end of the season, KCCA managed to notably hold rivals Vipers before beating Paidha (away) and Express. They went on to seal the triumph with a point against Ndejje.

“I commend Uganda Premier League for such accolades,” noted Coach Mutebi who was speaking during a brief awards ceremony on Monday morning at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo.

“These accolades make us work hard, they have elevated us to do much. The standard of football has improved thanks to these accolades because everyone knows that something will be honoured in the end.”

Kaddu on the other hand, edged Tooro United’s poacher Allan Kayiwa for best player of April/May. He had two man of the match performances in that period which was highlighted by a six goal tally.

The striker who didn’t make it at the function due to his national team engagement, was represented by KCCA FC spokesperson Moses Magero.

Coach Mutebi said that Kaddu has been an important figure in the club’s title race after scoring 14 goals in total.

“He is a hard worker, he is not technically gifted but he has earned everything though his hard work, he is now first among all equals,” Mutebi talked of Kaddu.

The two recipients took home Sh1M and the UPL accolades courtesy of Pilsner.

The Pilsner awards inaugural (October) winners were striker Joel Madondo (Kirinya) and Coach Espinoza Martinez (Vipers).
