The fifth edition of the Standard Chartered Bank cup in Uganda is set for this Saturday, May 18 at Mandela National Stadium.
The draws were held on Wednesday morning at Sheraton Kampala Hotel’s Rwenzori Ball Room.
34 teams have been grouped in eight pools, and the competition is expected to be more tight than ever before after last year’s champions CIPLA decided not to take part.

What is at stake is that the eventual winner will earn a team ticket to Anfield, home of Liverpool FC in United Kingdom.
Cynthia Mpanga, Standard Chartered’s Corporate Affairs Manager who was speaking to the press, revealed:

“The winners will get a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend an English Premier League match for Liverpool FC later this year in August when the season kickoff.
“They will get a chance to rub shoulders with Liverpool stars like Mohammed Salah, Virgil Van Dyke and Sadio Mane among others. It will be a VIP treatment.”
This stems from the Bank’s Liverpool FC sponsorship and is a great opportunity for Standard Chartered to reinforce its partnership with Liverpool FC and generate direct benefits to the businesses.
“From the time of the launch of this tournament, all participating teams have been training heavily. I think this tournament needs to be added to the National Sports calendar,” noted CEO Albert Saltson.
The participating teams of 7 players each, will play 10-minute 5-aside matches (with 2 substitutes). The top two teams in each group, will advance to the round of 16, and the winners will go on a knock out format advancing until the final.
