What We Know So Far About Madondo’s Trials In Turkey

It’s an open secret that Kirinya Jinja SS striker Joel Madondo is in Turkey for trials, with hope of getting a club overseas.

The hot striker bagged 13 league goals for Uganda Premier League side Kirinya Jinja SS to finish ninth on the log with 41 points.

The player left Uganda last week for the trials and is expected to be back in the country before May 26.

He is said to be with Ümraniyespor, a team that plays Turkey’s TFF league, a second division tier. The club is currently eighth on the log with 52 points with just one game to end of the season.

It should be noted that Madondo was initially on summoned on the preliminary National team squad for AFCON but was removed on the last hour and replaced by Vipers’ Joel Madondo.

He is the third player to go overseas since the 2018/19 league climaxed. KCCA’s Mustafa Kiiza was recently in Spain. Vipers’ Moses Waiswa was also reported to be in South Africa to finalise a deal with Supersport. Allan Okello has also been linked with a move to Zurich (Switzerland) but yet to come through.
