UCU Canons 90-82 City Oilers (second Overtime)
UCU Canons produced the biggest result of game week three with a hard fought victory against six time defending champions City Oilers.
Trailing 76-73 with just four seconds on the clock, UCU’s David Deng Kongoror inbounded from Joas Maheta to dagger from three pointer range and tie the score 76-76 and force overtime.
The Canons answered all Oilers questions to tie 81-81 in the first overtime before outscoring 14-6 in the second overtime to seal a 90-82 win.
Deng filled the stat sheet with a game high 37 points, 15 rebounds and five assists – just five away from the first triple double of the season. The forward shot 13 for 23 from the field.
Isaiah Mabeny (20 pts and 7 rebounds), Joas Maheta (11 pts) and Chuma Fadhil (10 rebounds) all flipped the switch to destroy Oilers.
Oilers who shot 39% from the field, had Landry Ndikumana score a team high 22, Jimmy Enabu and Tony Drilleba drilled in 12 and 10 points respectively.
UCU, who missed coach Nicholas Natuhereza, remain unbeaten after previous wins against KCCA, Our Saviour and Ndejje.
This is the first loss for Oilers who had beaten up on Betway Power, KIU Titans, Falcons and Kampala University.
Oilers will return to league action on May 10 before facing JKL Dolphins five days later.
UCU on the hand has Betway Power on May 8.
