KCCA FC gaffer Mike Mutebi has revealed that his side will not be signing any new player in the coming window.

Mutebi who was speaking in a press conference at Lugogo ahead of the club’s league game on Wednesday against Nyamityobora claimed that he has better players and will look only strengthen his squad with promoting kids from the club’s junior side.

“We are not signing any player, we will be promoting our kids from the development side and may be extending contracts of our players who we believe that can still serve us well,” claimed coach Mike Mutebi.

The news may not be greeted with loud cheers from fans.

However, the KCCA gaffer has in some incidents failed to live up to his words, and many KCCA FC fans should be excused if they take his words for granted.

“All round here in Uganda, KCCA have better players. Most of you would say like Police’s Juma Balinya, the area he operates there is Allan Okello, Jackson Nunda, Saddam Juma, Muzamir Mutyaba.

“We must not be excited about this strategy of recruitment, there must be a reason as to why you are bring the player. There are still some exciting players in our development.”

Nicholas Kasozi and Gift Ali

The coach also reserved some time to comment about forgotten midfielder Isaac Kirabira who he said that is no longer first among equals.

“He (Kirabira) served this club well, but he is no longer first among equals anymore and that is the reality.”

The Champions chasing records.

KCCA are the reigning 2018/19 StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions. The side benefited from Kitende woes before sealing their 13th triumph with a hard fought draw against Ndejje recently to win it with two games to spare.

However, Coach Mutebi revealed that they are not resting on their laurels as there are still more records to chase.

“We are going to treat that game (Vs Nyamityobora) seriously. We are champions yes, but we need to win the league with more points.

“The attitude my players showed against Ndejje was not right because they had closed shops claiming that we have won it already. Since I joined this club, we have been equivocating between 60 and 69 points on average.”

KCCA have so far collected 60 points from 28 games and can finish with 66 points if they pick victories in their remaining two games.

It should be noted that the Garbage Collectors put Nyamityobora to the sword the last time these sides met in the league at Lugogo, winning 6-1.

Mike Mutyaba got a brace, Patrick Henry Kaddu, Timothy Denis Awany, Allan Okello and Jackson Nunda scored one each to compete the rout.

Juma Dada got the consolation for the now relegated Nyamityobora FC.
