Michael Buzangu Ntumba scored a game high 22 points as Warriors overcame Kampala University Eagles in the National Basketball League games played on Easter Eve.
The Congolese lad – in his second spell at Warriors after returning at the start of the ongoing season since his departure in the 2017 playoffs – shot 7-13 on the field, picked six rebounds and added three assists to his tally.
Warriors who won four quarters 20-12, 25-9, 16-15 and 24-9, proved a handful for the new comers who are shot of size.
Mark Opiyo Okidi and Gatwech (KD) Keat Kutai scored 19 and 12 points respectively to boost Warriors’ tally for the second win in as many games.
Patrick seduge and Ahmed Kassa combined for 20 points but their efforts were not enough to stop Ronnie Mutebi’s Warriors.
The Eagles remain without a win in topflight after falling to KIU Titans in their opening game. They will face JKL Dolphins on Easter.
Warriors (2-0) will take a long rest before returning to court to face Betway Power on May 3 in their first test of the season.
Elsewhere:
David Deng Kongor dropped 36 points as late comers UCU Canons eased past Our Saviour. The game was on the brink of a walk over as the University side arrived over half an hour past the kickoff time. Normal play was also teased by rainfall.
Brian Namake led with 21 points for JKL’s 77-56 win over KCCA in other Men’s game.
Brenda Ekon, as usual, scored a game high 24 before Susan Becca and Fina Busingye contributed 16 points each for Nkumba Lady Marines who ousted UMU Ravens.
Rachael Akinyi Adhiambo managed 10 points for KIU Rangers victory over Angels.
Action resumes on Easter Sunday with four games on the card at YMCA court in Wandegeya, Kampala.
