JKL Lady Dolphins Shooting guard Rita Imanishimwe has said that ‘there is no guaranteed win for anyone’ in reference to her team’s duel with UCU Lady Canons on Friday at YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

The two sides face up on matchday two, after winning their respective openers recently. JKL beat KCCA Leopards while UCU overcame YMCA Lady Hamsters.

JKL, the defending league champions, are slight favourites after not only beating UCU in last year’s finals but also repeating the same feat in this year’s UCU Invitational tournament.

Speaking to the SportsNation ahead of the thriller, Imanishimwe commented:

“We are both good teams, there’s no guaranteed win. The team that wants it more will have it, the hustle will win the game.

“All the other players, in this case I mean the Netballers who have been away, are back and were around in our last training sessions, We have had time to train as a team more.”

Imanishimwe will come face to face with her former teammates after spending most of her playing career with UCU before joining JKL at the start of last season.

The guard revealed that facing her former team no longer comes with any pressure.

“I played UCU the whole of last year, there’s no pressure. And also it’s a game of wins and losses, the season is still fresh to be on pressure.”

She claimed that she has so much confidence in her team to do the required the job, adding that it will be important if they win on Friday.

“It’s very important to win to have a stand on the ground just like last year. We have to win so as we are in a better position.”

Against KCCA, Imanishimwe made 4 from her 13 field attempts and she will be eager to improve on that tally against UCU.

Besides Imanishimwe, UCU will have a long night to stop an explosive Jamila ‘Zama’ Nansikombi, an intelligent Flavia ‘Flirsh’ Oketcho, a resolute Hope Akello among others.
