All is so far set for the 2019 National Basketball League. The much anticipated showpiece tips off this Friday with two games – JKL Lady Dolphins Vs KCCA Leopards, and Betway Power Vs City Oilers – at MTN Indoor Arena, Lugogo.
Despite the season to start without a headline sponsor, this year’s campaign is one to look out for if we are to go what was revealed during the league launch held on Thursday morning at UOC Offices in Lugogo.
In a bid to improve fans experience, season tickets have been included that will see fans use these cards to access premises, including watching the 62 playoffs games.
FUBA President Nasser Sserunjogi commented that a discount of about 55% has been considered on these Season tickets to cater for everyone. Sh500,000 and Sh150000 will go for regular season and playoffs respectively.
Majorly, best performers in every league game and after the month will also be awarded. These honours will be based on player stats like points, rebounds, steals and others with the player with most efficiency wining. Gold medals and cash are the prizes at stake.
“This season is going to be competitive and we just can’t wait for tip-off,” started President Sserunjogi. “The basketball fraternity should expect a wonderful organised event. We will continue with last year’s sponsors and many still will be coming on board.”
KratosSports and Deep End Sports Media will be streaming the league games live via their online platforms.
Also, FUBA women commissioner Sandra Munduru Ulanga stated to the press that various ways are being considered and put in place to enable the Women games attract more fans as compared to the Men’s games.
Munduru added that she expects a more competitive Women league as UCU will be fighting to reclaim their title, JKL go all out to defend their crown as KCCA Leopards vie to return to league finals after a one year absence.
