Uganda Premier League table leaders KCCA FC’s efforts have not gone unnoticed as Midfielder Nicholas Kasozi and tactician Mike Mutebi have been nominated for Monthly awards.

Kasozi has been nominated for Pilsner Player of the Month of February together with Kirinya Jinja’s David Bagoole and URA’s Crowmwell Rwothomio.

Mutebi will face competition from Sam Ssimbwa (URA) and Wasswa Bbosa (Tooro) for Coach of February.

Kasozi was the difference in Jinja.

Kasozi who joined KCCA last year in August on a three year deal from bitter rivals SC Villa had earlier faced tough challenge to break into the squad and was on the verge of joining URA on loan in the January transfer window.

However, the player has since been a strong pillar in Mutebi’s title quest including a strong March period where he was named the Man of the Match in Jinja against Kirinya Jinja.

He has bossed the midfield, provided that needed curtain to a usual three man defence and orchestrated the team’s attacks from the middle of the park.

URA’s Rwothomio has scored two goals in March – A goal against his former team Paidha in Zombo and against BUL FC in Namboole.

Bagoole has also been instrumental in the Jinja based club’s victories against Nyamityobora and Villa, not to mention their loss to KCCA.

The Pilsner awards inaugural (October) winners were striker Joel Madondo (Kirinya) and Coach Espinoza Martinez (Vipers). Coach Wasswa Bbosa and Onduparaka’s defender Rashid Toha were February’s best.

The awards ceremony will be held on Monday, April 8 at Kati Kati Restaurant in Kampala with the winners in both categories expected to walk away with Sh1M and a gong each.
