UPL: Odur, Birungi Rescue Express To Complete Double Over Paidha

Express FC 2-0 Paidha BA
(Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku)

Express FC managed to overcome a hard fighting ten man Paidha Angels with a 2-0 win in a league game played at Betway Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

Tony Odur and Michael Birungi came off the bench, replacing Ibrahim Kayiwa and Mubarak Nsubuga respectively, to score one each and dent Paidha’s hopes of beating the drop.

The visitors, who had lost the reverse fixture 3-1 in Arua last year, looked the better side to win at Wankulukuku even when Pascal Irasa was sent off when he received his second yelllw for a deliberate handball in the 40th minute.

Jackson Nsubuga got the best chance to put Paidha in the lead but failed to bundle home an opener from Caesar Olega’s assist inside the first stanza.

Paidha’s Mohammed Kasirye brought down Disan Galiwango in the area for the penalty – The defender’s clumsy challenge on Disan who was finding his way into the box from the left flank convinced referee Emma Kiweewa to point to the spot.

Odur stepped up to put the Red Eagles in the lead with a well taken penalty in the 66th minute.

The Red Eagles doubled the advantage late with Birungi firing in off Galiwango’s assist.

The result sends Express to ninth place on the table with 32 points as Paidha remains rooted at the bottom with just 12 points.
