UPL: Kirinya Jinja Out To End Bright Stars Hoodoo

Kirinya Jinja SS will seek to end their poor record against visitors Bright Stars in the Uganda Premier League.

Coach Abbey Kikomeko who picked his first win against Police FC will hope for similar success again when they play host to a tenth placed side at the Mighty Arena.

This will be the sixth meeting between the two sides in the league – Bright Stars have won three while the other have been draws.

The reverse fixture this season, saw Bright Stars win 4-1 in November last year – Nelson Ssenkatuka bagged a brace before Augustine Kacancu and Brian Kayanja added one each. Fred Amaka scored for the visitors in Mwererwe who had Dan Ssewava sent off.

Last season, Bright Stars picked a double over Kirinya. They won 2-1 in Mwererwe before replicating the same scoreline at Kyabazinga Stadium. Ssenkatuka and Andrew Kaggwa led the comeback after Faizal Muwawu had out Kirinya in the lead.

The game finds Kirinya Jinja in eighth place on the log with 33 points, two places and as many points above Bright Stars. A win for the visitors will see Fred Kajoba’s side leapfrog the hosts.

The hosts will seek to bounce back after losing 0-2 to KCCA in their last league encounter last month. The result ended the club’s three game winning streak.
