The Basketball season is around the corner – The NBL is scheduled to tip-off on April 12 – the momentum has started to grow.
Chris Omanye’s contract with KIU Titans has ended and the player is already on his way out of last year’s semifinalists.
Omanye’s future has been the subject of plenty of speculation amid reported interest from mainly JKL Dolphins and KCCA Men.
“It’s too early for me to say my next move,” Omanye told SportsNation. “The good thing is that am a free agent.”
The Point guard who joined the Kansanga based team about six years ago, had renewed a two year contract which has also now come to an end.
The point guard is ready to look for greener pastures, just like team mate Sam Agutu who already joined Betway Power. Michael Bwanga is also the other player who is expected to leave.
Omanye said that he will however consider an improved offer from KIU if they approach him to renew the contract. “Yeah, I can consider that, but its the team to persuade me.”
He is, for now, planning to develop his personal basics. He revealed:
“What is on my mind is to take much time I can, off. I will sit tight and wait. Am going to conduct my individual training, so as I can improve and wait.”
Last season, Chris – as he likes to be called – was one of KIU’s pillars as the side made it to the semis. He scored 313 points, 73 assists, averaging 25 minutes and four rebounds per game.
He was strongly linked to JKL two seasons back but the Freedom Owora owned club was offering crumbs on the table.
